ALMOND SHORT BREAD 
1 c. softened butter
1/2 c. sugar
2 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. almond extract

With electric beater at medium speed, beat butter and sugar together. Add extract. Stir in flour with wooden spoon. Put mixture into 9 x 13 inch cookie sheet. Sprinkle with 1/4 cup sugar and 1/4 cup chopped nuts gently onto top. Using a fork, prick the entire mixture. Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until lightly brown.
