STRAWBERRY - BANANA PIE
3/4 c. vanilla wafer crumbs
2 tbsp. butter, melted
13 vanilla wafers
1 c. boiling water
1 pkg. (3 oz.) strawberry-flavored gelatin
1 c. cold water
1 tbsp. lemon juice
24 lg. marshmallows (about 8 oz.)
1/4 c. milk
1 c. chilled whipping cream
1 pt. strawberries, sliced
1 c. sliced banana (1 med.)

Heat oven to 350 degrees.

1. Mix vanilla wafer crumbs and butter. Press mixture firmly and evenly in bottom of 9-inch pie plate.

2. Bake 8 minutes. Stand vanilla wafers up against side of pie plate. Cool.

3. Pour boiling water over gelatin; stir until gelatin is dissolved. Stir in cold water and lemon juice. Refrigerate until slightly thickened.

4. Heat marshmallows and milk until marshmallows are melted; cool to room temperature. Beat cream in chilled bowl until stiff; fold in marshmallow mixture. Fold thickened strawberry gelatin into marshmallow-whipped cream mixture. Refrigerate until mixture mounds slightly when dropped from a spoon. Fold in sliced strawberries and banana. Mound into crumb-lined pie plate; refrigerate until set, about 3 hours.

5. Garnish with additional banana slices and whole berries if desired.
