SLICED CUCUMBER PICKLES 
12 med.-sized cucumbers
5 med.-sized onions
1/2 c. salt
2 c. water
2 c. vinegar
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. mustard seed
1 tsp. celery seed

1. Cut cucumbers in 1/8 inch slices without paring. Peel onions and cut 1/4 inch slices. Place layers of sliced vegetables alternately in bowl with salt. Let stand for 3 hours. Drain and rinse well with cold water.

2. Mix water, vinegar, sugar, and mustard and celery seeds in large kettle. Bring to boiling, stirring until sugar is dissolved. Add drained cucumbers and onions, and boil 5 minutes. Pour into hot sterilized jars and seal immediately.

Makes about 3 quarts.
