PUMPKIN DROP COOKIES 
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 c. pumpkin
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. raisins or dates
3 tbsp. butter
4 tbsp. milk
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 c. confectioners sugar

Cream shortening and sugar. Add egg. Beat well. Add pumpkin and dry ingredients. Add raisins or dates. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes. Make frosting: Boil butter, milk, and brown sugar for 2 minutes. Cool slightly. Mix in 1 cup confectioners sugar and vanilla. Beat until smooth. Use while still warm to frost cookies. Yields 4 dozen.
