SOUR CREAM DROP COOKIES 
3/4 c. shortening
3/4 c. brown sugar, packed
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 egg
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. sour cream
3 dozen dates, chopped

Cream shortening and sugar together. Add egg and beat well. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with the sour cream and vanilla. Fold in dates which have been dusted with some of the flour. Drop from teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Dust with powdered sugar, if desired.
