MRS. S.'S CHRISTMAS STOLLEN 
2 c. lukewarm milk
1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
2 pkgs. yeast
1/2 c. shortening
7 - 7 1/2 c. flour
3/4 c. mixed candied fruit

Sprinkle yeast in warm milk, sugar and salt in large bowl. Mix in 2 eggs which have been slightly beaten. Mix in shortening. Beat until all mixed. Add flour gradually until stiff dough forms. Knead 10 minutes. Let rise. Punch down, let rest a few minutes. Knead in mixed fruit. Roll out in large square. Spread with butter. Roll up, seal edges and cut into three equal portions. Place on large greased cookie sheet. Let rise. Bake at 350 F. until brown and loaves sound hollow when tapped. If desired, glazed with a little 4X sugar and water mixture.
