SUGAR CREAM PIE
3/4 c. white sugar
1/3 c. brown sugar
1/3 c. flour
1/4 tbsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 c. cream

Grandma's way: Combine sugars, flour, salt and cinnamon. Add cream. Blend until thick. Pour into unbaked pie shell and dot with butter. Bake at 350 degrees until it looks done!

My Way: Combine, add and blend as above. I add a pinch of salt to the mix and sprinkle nutmeg on the top after all is poured into a pie shell. Bake 10-15 minutes at 425 degrees. Reduce the heat to 350 degrees and bake an additional 40-45 minutes or until done.

I once thought everyone baked Sugar Cream Pie. But as an adult learned it was only the families who generations ago put down roots in north central Indiana who were so lucky. This was made up from simple ingredients in this area's frontier days.
