CARAMEL APPLE OAT SQUARES | |
1 3/4 c. unsifted flour 1 c. quick cooking oats 1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 1 c. cold butter 1 c. chopped nuts 1 (14 oz.) can Eagle Brand milk 20 Eagle Brand caramels 1 (21 oz.) can Comstock apple filling In a large bowl combine first 5 ingredients. Cut in butter until crumbly. Reserve 1 1/2 cups, press remainder on bottom of 9 x 12 inch baking dish. Bake 15 minutes at 375 degrees. Add nuts to remainder of reserved crumb mixture. In a heavy saucepan over low heat melt caramels and milk, stirring until smooth. Spoon apple filling on top of baked crust and top with caramel mixture. Sprinkle remainder of crumb mixture on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes or until set. Cool. Serve with ice cream. Serves 10 or 12. |
