SUPER FUDGE CAKE | |
5 eggs 2 1/2 c. granulated sugar 4 1/2 oz. unsweetened chocolate 1 3/4 c. milk 1/4 c. butter 1/2 c. vegetable shortening 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. baking soda 3 c. sifted cake flour Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Beat 1 of the eggs and combine in a saucepan with 1 cup sugar, chocolate and 3/4 cup milk. Cook stirring over low heat until chocolate melts and mixture thickens. Let cool. Mix butter and shortening. Add remaining sugar. Cream until fluffy. Add vanilla and remaining eggs, one at a time, beating well. Sift dry ingredients together and add to the butter mixture alternately with remaining milk. Beating well. Beat until smooth. Blend in chocolate mixture. Pour into three 9 inch greased layer pans. Bake 25-30 minutes. Cool for 1 hour. FROSTING FOR SUPER FUDGE CAKE: 4 oz. unsweetened chocolate 1/4 c. butter 1/4 tsp. salt 3 c. sifted powdered sugar 1 tsp. vanilla 6-8 tbsp. milk Melt butter and chocolate. Add to salt, sugar and vanilla. Beat in enough milk to spreading consistency. |
