3/4 c. butter, melted 2/3 c. canned milk 1 tsp. vanilla 3 tsp. baking powder 2 c. sugar 4 eggs Grated rind of 1 lemon 6-7 c. flour, sifted Beat butter and sugar together. Add milk (scalded) lukewarm. Mix well. Add eggs, one at a time, beat well after each addition, add vanilla and lemon rind; mix well. Sift 2 cups flour with the 3 teaspoons baking powder. Add to mixture, mix well. Sift the remaining flour. Add to mixture 1 cup at a time, kneading the dough after each addition. Pinch off a small piece of dough and roll in long pencil like strips, about 5 inches long, fold the strip, then twist one or shape any way you like. Brush with can milk. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. |
