ROLLS OR LIGHT BREAD | |
1 cake Fleishman's yeast 2 tbsp. sugar 2 c. milk, scalded & cooled 3 c. flour 4 tbsp. melted or liquid shortening 1 tsp. salt 2 or more c. flour Crumble yeast in crock, sprinkle sugar over it. Scald milk and cool to lukewarm. Mix milk with yeast and sugar. Beat in 3 cups flour and shortening with beater, until perfectly smooth. Let rise in warm place 1 1/2 hours or until light. Sprinkle salt over mixture, then stir in 2 cups of flour, or enough more to make stiff dough. Knead. Put in greased bowl and let rise 1 hour, then shape into rolls or loaf pans. Let rise about an hour or until double in bulk. Bake. |
