UPSIDE DOWN APPLE | |
2 (9") crusts 1/2 c. currants or raisins 2 tbsp. apple juice 1/4 c. soft butter 1 c. pecan halves 2/3 c. dark brown sugar 6-8 c. pared thin slices, Granny Green (tart), apples 2 tbsp. lemon juice 2 tbsp. flour 1/2 c. sugar 1 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. nutmeg Soak currants or raisins in apple juice. Spread soft butter on sides and bottom of glass pie pan. Press pecan halves into butter. Pat brown sugar on top of pecans. Cover with 1 crust. Mix apples with flour, sugar, lemon juice and spices. Add raisins. Place mix on the crust then top with other crust. Crimp edges. Cut slits in crust. Bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes then at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Cool 5 minutes on rack. Loosen edges and invert on plate. |
