NEXT RECIPE:  CRANBERRY SQUARES

CRANBERRY SLUSHIE
1 quart fresh cranberries
2 cups water
2 cups sugar
juice of 2 lemons

In a saucepan, simmer the berries in the water for 8 minutes, then strain them in a colander. Add sugar and bring to a boil. (When the mixture cools, taste and adjust for sweetness).

Cool, add lemon juice and freeze until slushy in an ice cream freezer or in a metal tray in the freezer.

We have also used Gatorade bottles (16 oz) in the freezer. Shake every 30 minutes and return to freezer until mixture is very slushy.

A little vodka or gin turns this into a wonderful mixer! Add just before serving, because the alcohol will melt the ice somewhat.
