FRENCH APPLE PIE 
2/3 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 tbsp. flour
1/2 c. softened butter
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 c. flour
6 c. sliced, pared apples

Mix together sugar, cinnamon, flour; add to apples. Put all in a 9- inch pastry-lined tin. Cream together 1/2 cup of brown sugar and 1/2 cup of softened butter, then work in flour. Sprinkle this crumb mixture over apples. Bake 15 minutes at 450 degrees, then reduce to 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until apples are done.
