SPRITZ COOKIES 
1 1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. almond extract
4 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking powder

Cream butter and sugar. Add egg and extract and beat well. Sift flour and baking powder together and add gradually to creamed mixture. Mix well. Force dough through cookie press or gun onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Sprinkle with colored sugar and bake in a 350 degree oven for 7 to 8 minutes or until light tan in color. Cool. Makes 5 dozen cookies.

My Swedish great-grandmother always made these for Christmas in special shapes-- trees and wreaths. She also made meringue kisses. My grandmother received the cookie press when she died. My mother started to make these cookies when she was 12 and she still makes them!
