VANILLA CREAM PIE 
2 1/2 c. milk
1/4 c. heavy cream
2 egg yolks
2/3 c. sugar
4 tbsp. cornstarch
2 tsp. vanilla
2 tbsp. butter, room temperature
1 pastry shell

Whisk together milk, cream and eggs; combine sugar and cornstarch in saucepan. Whisk in the yolk mixture and cook over medium heat. Stir occasionally until it boils, boil 7 minutes, boil and stir 1 minute. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and butter. Pour into baked pie shell. Put meringue or whipped topping on top.
