ORANGE KISS ME CAKE
1 lg. orange
1 c. seedless raisins
1/3 c. walnuts
2 c. sifted flour
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. milk, divided
2 eggs

TOPPING:

1/3 c. orange juice
1/4 c. chopped walnuts
1/3 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon

Squeeze orange, reserving juice. Grind pulp and rind of orange together with raisins and walnuts, using coarse blade of food chopper. Set aside. Combine flour, sugar, soda and salt in large bowl of mixer. Add shortening and 3/4 cup of the milk. Beat on low speed for 1 1/2 minutes, scraping down sides of bowl.

Add eggs and remaining 1/4 cup of milk. Beat 1 1/2 minutes longer, scraping down sides of bowl. Fold in orange-raisin mixture. Turn into 9 x 13 inch pan which has been well greased and lightly floured on bottom only.

Bake at 350 degrees preheated oven for 40 to 50 minutes or until done. Remove and let stand 10 minutes. Turn out on rack to cool. While still warm, drizzle orange juice over top of cake. Sprinkle with nuts, then with sugar and cinnamon which have been mixed together.

Jan says that her Mom (Dora) made this cake for years before it won the Grand Prize at the Pillsbury Bake Off.
