APPLE BARS 
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tbsp. sugar
1 c. shortening
1 egg yolk
1 tsp. salt
2/3 c. milk
1 egg white
2 handfuls Cornflakes, crushed
10 apples, sliced
3/4 c. sugar
Flour to thicken
Cinnamon to taste

Mix flour, salt and shortening as a pie crust dough. In a cup, beat egg yolk and milk, add to dough mixture. Roll half of dough and put in a jelly roll pan. Put in sliced apples, sprinkle with 3/4 cup of sugar, flour to thicken, and cinnamon. Roll out remaining crust to fit top. Beat egg whites slightly and brush on top. Bake 50 to 55 minutes at 350 degrees. While warm, sprinkle with powdered sugar.
