BROWN-N-SERVE ROLLS | |
1 pkg. yeast 3/4 c. warm (105 to 115 degree) water 3/4 c. warm milk, scald and cool 1/4 c. sugar 2 1/4 tsp. salt 1/4 c. shortening 4 1/2 c. flour Dissolve yeast in warm water, stir in milk, sugar, salt, shortening and 2 1/2 cups flour. Beat until smooth; mix in rest of flour, forming soft dough. Knead until smooth, about 5 minutes. Place in greased bowl and let rise 1 1/2 hours. Punch down and divide into 24 equal pieces. Roll into balls and place on baking sheet. Cover and let rise 45 minutes. Bake at 275 degrees for 20 to 30 minutes. TO FREEZE: Do not let the rolls brown! Cool, wrap and freeze. TO REHEAT: Bake frozen rolls at 400 degrees 7 to 10 minutes. |
