1 c. molasses
1 c. sugar
1 c. shortening
3 whole eggs
4 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. nutmeg
4 c. dried apples
Sugar to taste

Cook dried apples and set aside until cake layers are ready.

In mixing bowl add all ingredients, beating batter well. Then add 1 cup boiling water and beat 3 minutes more. Pour enough into cake pan that has been prepared with grease and flour. Bake seven of these thin cakes for layers. Spread dried apple mixture in between each layer, stacking as you go, leaving top cake layer to be last.
