MA'S SPONGE CAKE 
3 egg yolks
3 egg whites
1/2 c. hot water
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt

Beat egg yolks until light. Beat constantly while gradually adding sugar. Add vanilla and salt, then boiling water. Fold in beaten egg whites. Pour into greased and floured large tube cake pan. Bake at 350 for 50 minutes. Frost if desired.
