GUMDROP CAKE 
1 c. applesauce
1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda, dissolved in 1 tsp. cold water
4 c. flour
1 tsp. ground cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 lb. raisins
1 lb. gumdrops
1 c. walnuts

Combine applesauce, shortening, sugar, eggs and soda/water. Sift together flour, ground cloves, cinnamon and nutmeg, then add to wet ingredients. Stir in raisins, gumdrops and walnuts.

Pour into small loaf pans; bake at 325 degrees for 1 1/2 hours.
