ALMOND TOFFEE 
2/3 c. butter
1/3 c. water
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
2/3 c. sliced almonds

Combine ingredients and stir constantly over low heat until mixture boils. Then cook without stirring to 236 degrees (soft ball stage). Add almonds and cook until 290 degrees, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and add 1/4 teaspoon baking soda and pour on greased sheet. Spread with 1/2 cup chocolate morsels, if desired, and let melt. Spread melted chocolate pieces over almond toffee.
