KRIS KRINGLE COOKIES 
1/2 c. butter
1 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
3/4 tsp. baking soda dissolved in 1 tsp. milk
3/4 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. nutmeg OR 1 tsp. anise flavor - no nutmeg
2 1/2 - 3 c. flour (about)

Make dough stiff enough to roll. Cut into shapes. Sprinkle sugar on top or frost after baking.
