APPLE PASTRY SQUARES 
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 c. plus 2 tbsp. butter
1 egg, separated
1 c. crushed Corn Flakes
4 to 5 c. thinly sliced apples
3/4 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. ginger
Milk

Mix flour and salt; cut in butter until crumbly; beat egg-yolk with fork in measuring cup and add enough milk to make 2/3 cup; mix this into flour mixture with fork. Chill dough 1/2 hour or longer. Divide dough into 2 parts. Roll 1 part out to fit a 10x15 pan; sprinkle bottom crust with Corn Flakes. Combine apples with sugar and spices; spread over crust; cover with top crust; seal all edges together. Brush top with beaten egg-white. Bake 400 degrees for 50 to 60 minutes until golden brown.

FROSTING:

1 c. powdered sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/3 c. soft butter
Enough evaporated milk to spread on slightly cooled pastry
