ST. BARNABAS COOKIES 
1/4 lb. butter
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. granulated sugar
1 c. dates, cut
1 egg

Cook the above until dates are soft; cool to handle. Stir into this 2 cups of Rice Krispies, 1 teaspoon vanilla or rum and 1/2 cup chopped nuts. Mold into balls and roll in confectioners' sugar. Makes 85 balls.
