1 lb. spiral macaroni 2 medium onions 1/2 lb. bacon 1/2 lb. chopped mushrooms 1 can sauerkraut (1 lb. size) 2 cans mushroom soup salt and pepper, to taste Cut bacon into small pieces and cook until crisp. Drain, but save bacon fat to fry onions (chopped) until they are clear but not brown. Remove onions from pan. Sauté mushrooms in butter or bacon fat. Combine bacon, onions, mushrooms, and sauerkraut with undiluted mushroom soup. Cook macaroni according to package directions and drain. Combine all ingredients in a large casserole. Mix well. Add salt and pepper. Ready to eat, or can be baked for 30 minutes at 350°F. |
