ROAST CHICKEN & HERBS 
3 - 3 1/2 lb. broiler chicken
2 bay leaves
3/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. each marjoram, thyme, oregano, basil & sage
3 cloves garlic
3 tbsp. melted butter
1/2 tsp. pepper

Rinse chicken. Rub with 1 split garlic clove. Place cloves and bay leaves inside chicken. Stir together butter and remaining seasonings. Place 1 tablespoon inside chicken. Brush chicken with remainder. Place on rack, breast side down. Bake uncovered at 400 degrees for 1 hour. Turn over and bake at 400 degrees for 1 hour more. Baste with drippings. (A nice baste for turkey as well.)
