AUNT MAMIE'S EGG BREAD
6 c. flour
1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
2 eggs (save white from 1 for brushing on top)
1/4 lb. butter, melted
2 c. water
1 pkg. yeast, dissolved in 1/2 c. warm water

Mix flour, sugar, and salt in large bowl. Make well in center and add 1 egg and 1 yolk, melted butter, water, and yeast. Mix together and knead until smooth. A little more flour can be added to prevent dough from sticking. Let rise in a large, greased bowl until doubled. Punch down and shape into loaves. Divide the dough into 6 equal parts and roll out into long pieces. Braid 3 together for 1 loaf. Repeat. Place on greased baking sheet and let rise until doubled. Brush with remaining egg white and put into preheated 350 degree oven. Bake for 35 minutes or until nicely browned.
