BENEDICT'S EGG BREAD 
5 c. flour
3/4 c. sugar
1 c. buttermilk
1 c. butter (sweet)
1 lg. cake yeast
1/2 tsp. salt
Peel from 1 fresh lemon
4 eggs and 2 yolks
6 tbsp. milk and lukewarm water, proof

Combine the flour, sugar, butter, and salt. Mix all together like for pie so it looks like small peas. Put in the fresh lemon peel. After yeast is proofed, put in buttermilk and yeast. Mix the dough and knead until smooth and springs back when pressed with the finger. If too wet, add more flour a little at a time. If too dry, add a little milk at a time. Makes 3 regular loaves plus 1 small. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes. Bread should sound hollow when done.
