MANDARIN ORANGE TOSS 
1/3 c. sliced almonds
2 tbsp. sugar
1/2 head lettuce, torn into bite size pieces
1 sm. bunch romaine lettuce, torn into bite size pieces
2 med. stalks celery, thinly sliced (about 1 cup)
2 green onions (with tops), thinly sliced (about 2 tablespoons)
1 can (11 oz.) mandarin orange segments, drained
Sweet-Sour dressing (recipe follows)

Cook almonds and sugar over low heat, stirring constantly until sugar is melted and almonds are coated. Cool and break apart. Store at room temperature. Place lettuce and romaine in plastic bag; add celery and onions. Pour Sweet-Sour dressing into bag; add orange segments. Close bag tightly and shake. Add almonds and shake. Makes 8 servings.

SWEET-SOUR DRESSING:

1/3 c. vegetable oil
3 tbsp. sugar
3 tbsp. vinegar
1 tbsp. snipped parsley or mint leaves
1/2 tsp. salt
Dash of pepper
Dash of red pepper sauce

Shake all ingredients in tightly covered jar; refrigerate.
