ORIENTAL CHICKEN BARBEQUE
Cut up chicken (drumsticks are best); approximately 10 to 12 pieces
1 c. soy sauce
2 tsp. ginger
2 tbsp. sugar
2 tsp. garlic powder or cloves
3 c. water

Combine ingredients except chicken and bring to a boil. Add chicken and return to boil then simmer for 30 minutes. Cool and refrigerate in sauce to marinate several hours or overnight. Broil chicken in oven grill or outside grill until brown and slightly crisp. This recipe is super for a barbeque/picnic or to ease pressure at dinnertime. The prep work is easy and the chicken is done when browned.

This recipe works! I've prepared this 3 times now, using drumsticks, and each time quite flavorful. Good thing is that you can control how much marinade get into the meat by reducing the refrigerator time. Three - five hours is sufficient. On a rush I boil ingredients then chicken and let it cool for less than an hour. Still came out great...even when I've explored with half the batch by grilling with bbq sauce on top. Tasty...guest each of both with or w/out bbq sauce. TIP: I've learned to cut back on the soy sauce by half, always use fresh ginger, brown sugar....oops, would this be a very different recipe? Still quite yummy! Thanks.
