OLD FASHIONED GINGER STRIPS 
3/4 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. molasses
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. cloves
2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease cookie sheets. In large bowl combine, butter, sugar, egg and molasses. Mix thoroughly. Blend in remaining ingredients. Divide dough into 6 portions. Shape each part into a 12 inch roll on prepared cookie sheet; flatten slightly. Brush roll tops with water. Sprinkle lightly with sugar.

Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown. Cool 15 minutes. Cut diagonally into 3/4 inch bars. Cool completely.

GLAZE:

3/4 c. powdered sugar
1 tbsp. butter
1 tbsp. milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla

In small bowl, combine glaze ingredients until smooth. If needed, add a few more drops of milk to make glaze consistency. Spoon over bars. Allow glaze to set. Separate into bars.
