BANANA NUT CHIFFON CAKE | |
2 c. cake flour, sifted 1 1/2 c. sugar 3 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 c. salad oil 7 egg yolks, unbeaten 3/4 c. cold water 1 lg. mashed, sieved ripe banana 1 tsp. vanilla 1 c. egg whites (7 or 8) 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar 1/2 c. ground nuts Sift flour, baking powder and salt into a mixing bowl. Make a well in center. Add oil, egg yolks, water, banana and flavoring and ground nuts. Beat with spoon until smooth. Whip egg whites and cream of tartar until very stiff then fold in egg yolk mixture. Pour into ungreased tube pan. Bake in 325 degree oven for 45 to 55 minutes, if necessary. Leave in 10 minutes more in 350 degree oven. |
