CHOCOLATE REVEL BARS | |
1 c. butter, softened 2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour 2 c. brown sugar 2 eggs 4 tsp. vanilla, divided 1 tsp. baking soda 3 c. rolled oats 1 1/2 c. chocolate bits (semi-sweet) 1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk 2 tbsp. butter 1/2 c. chopped nuts In large mixing bowl beat 1 cup butter with electric mixer 30 seconds. Add 1/2 the flour, all the brown sugar, eggs, 2 teaspoons vanilla and baking soda. Beat on low speed until blended. Beat in remaining flour and stir in oats. In medium saucepan cook chocolate bits condensed milk and 2 tablespoons butter on low heat until chocolate is melted. Stir constantly. Remove from heat. Stir in 2 teaspoons vanilla and nuts. Put 2/3 of oat mixture in bottom of 15 x 10 inch cookie sheet with sides. Spread chocolate next on top. Dot with remaining oat mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes until golden. Chocolate mixture will look moist. Makes 60 squares. |
