CHERRY SQUARES 
1/2 lb. butter
1 c. sugar
2 c. flour
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 can cherry or blueberry filling
1 c. chopped walnuts (optional)

Cream butter with sugar; add eggs and vanilla, beat by hand; add flour, blend together. Add walnuts; mix thoroughly. Spread 3/4 of batter into a greased pan 13 x 9 inches. Spread cherry filling on top of batter. Drop by teaspoon left over batter on top of cherry filling. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
