GRANDMA'S TASTY FLAX BUNS | |
2 c. milk, scalded 2 tsp. salt 1/4 c. sugar 1/3 c. shortening 2 pkgs. yeast in 1/2 c. water water 5 c. white flour 2 c. flax flour or ground flax Place milk, sugar and 1/3 cup shortening in large bowl and cool to lukewarm. Add yeast and 3 cups of white flour. Beat thoroughly; add 2 cups of flax flour or ground flax. Beat again, then add 2 more cups of white flour. Stir and turn out on table top. Knead until smooth and elastic - like a baby's bun! Place in greased bowl. Let rise until double. Punch down, then shape into balls. Brush with melted butter and let rise in warm place until doubled.
