DATE PINWHEEL COOKIES 
1 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup shortening
3 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
3 cups flour sift

Filling:

1 pound of dates
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup water
boil until thick
add nuts and let cool

Mix and chill dough. Roll on floured cloth spread date mixture over this. Roll up like a jelly roll.

Bake at 325°F till edges are set.
