1/2 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1 c. dates, chopped
1 1/2 c. applesauce
1 c. raisins
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. nuts, chopped
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. cloves

Cream shortening, sugar, and eggs. Add spices, dates, raisins and nuts to the flour. Stir soda into applesauce. Combine all ingredients. Mix thoroughly. Pour into greased and floured 9x13 inch pan. Bake at 345 degrees for 30-35 minutes. Frost with cream cheese frosting.
