3/4 c. shortening OR 1/2 c. butter and 1/4 c. Crisco
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
6 pkgs. Lifesavers

Mix shortening, sugar, eggs and extract. Blend in flour, baking powder and salt. Cover and chill for one hour. Heat oven to 375 degrees. Roll dough 1/4 inch thick on floured board. Cut into desired shapes. Cut out center of cookies for window. Use a straw to pierce a hole for hanging. Place cookies on foil-covered cookie sheet. Fill centers of cut-outs with Lifesavers. Candy may be crushed for smaller cookies.

Bake 7-9 minutes or until cookies are brown and candy is melted. Cool on cookie sheet and remove carefully. Beautiful at Christmas time! Hang by ribbon in kitchen window.
