BUTTERMILK POUND CAKE 
3 c. sugar
1 c. butter flavored Crisco
5 lg. or 6 sm. eggs
1/4 tsp. baking soda in 1 c. buttermilk
3 c. plain flour (White Lily)
1 tbsp. vanilla

Cream the sugar and Crisco well. Add eggs, one at a time and beat well after each one. Add soda and buttermilk mixture alternately with the flour and vanilla. Beat well and bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour and 10 minutes.
