PRIZE MAHOGANY CAKE 
1 1/2 c. sugar
2/3 c. butter
1 1/4 c. milk
1/2 c. cocoa
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking soda
2 scant c. flour
3 eggs, beaten

Cream sugar and butter. Add eggs. Take half the milk and the cocoa and cook until the consistency of custard. Cool and add to the butter, sugar and eggs. Add the other half of the milk, in which the soda has been dissolved. Add flour and vanilla. Beat for two minutes. Bake in a greased 9 x 13 inch pan or two layers at 350 degrees until done.
