RHODA'S OLD FASHIONED DATE LOAF | |
3 c. sugar 1 c. milk 1 (8 oz.) pkg. dates 2 c. chopped pecans Pinch of salt Cook sugar and milk in a saucepan to soft ball stage. Remove from heat. Chop dates and add to hot mixture and beat until dates melt. Add pecans. Pour out on a long, wet cloth (a smooth dish towel is fine). You will want to pour this in a long strip, then start rolling the wet towel and shaping it so it becomes a long, round roll. Place the loaf in the refrigerator and chill until hard. Unwrap and cut in slices. Not necessary to cut all at one time, just keep in refrigerator and cut as you serve. |
