OLD FASHION TEA CAKES 
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
3 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 c. buttermilk

Cream butter, sugars and brown sugar until fluffy. Add egg and vanilla. Sift flour. Measure and sift again with baking powder, soda and nutmeg. Add dry ingredients and buttermilk alternately to creamed mixture. Chill dough.

Roll out 1/8 inch thick on lightly floured board. Cut with cookie cutters. Bake on lightly greased baking sheet at 400 degrees for 8 minutes. Makes 6 dozen 2 inch cookies.
