5 1/2 c. flour 1 1/2 sticks butter 1 1/2 c. sugar 4 tbsp. baking powder 4 eggs 1 tsp. lemon extract 1 tsp. anise extract 1 1/2 tsp. anise seeds 1/2 c. milk FROSTING: 2 c. confectioners' sugar 1/2 stick butter 3 tbsp. milk 1 tsp. vanilla Put flour in large bowl. Cut in butter. Add baking powder and sugar, mix well. In small bowl, lightly beat eggs with milk, extracts and seeds. Add to flour, stirring until flour is moist. Turn out on a well-floured board. Knead until smooth, about 2 minutes. Cover and refrigerate 1 hour. Form a small ball. Bake at 325 degrees for 20 minutes. These are not supposed to be browned. Frost after cookies are cooled, sprinkle with non-pareils. |
