1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 c. applesauce
1 3/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 c. raisins
1 c. nuts (your choice)

Cream shortening, sugar and blend in eggs and applesauce. Add flour, baking powder, soda, salt, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg to creamed mixture. Blend in raisins and nuts. Drop by teaspoonfuls on cookie sheet.

Bake in a preheated 375°F oven for 15 minutes.
