CARAMEL LAYER CHOCOLATE SQUARES | |
14 oz. light caramels 3/4 c. butter 1 box German chocolate cake mix 5 oz. can evaporated milk 6 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips 1 c. chopped nuts 1. Take 1/3 cup evaporated milk and 1/4 ounce caramels and melt together, stirring constantly. 2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour 13 x 9 inch pan. In large mixing bowl combine dry package of German chocolate cake mix, 3/4 cup butter (melted), 1/3 cup evaporated milk and 1 cup chopped nuts. Stir together by hand until dough holds together. Press 1/2 of the dough into prepared pan and bake at 350 degrees for 6 minutes. Remove and sprinkle 6 ounces semi-sweet chocolate pieces, then pour melted caramels over it and crumble reserved dough over top. Bake for 15-18 minutes. Cool slightly, refrigerate about 30 minutes to set caramel layer, then cut into squares. |
