THE GREATEST GINGER SNAPS 
1 c. sugar
3/4 c. butter
1/4 c. dark molasses
1 egg
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/8 tsp. salt
Sugar

Cream together sugar and butter. Add molasses and egg. Beat well. Combine flour, soda, ginger, cloves, cinnamon, and salt. Stir into creamed mixture and beat well. Shape dough into walnut sized balls and roll in sugar. Place balls on greased cookie sheet 1 1/2 to 2 inch apart. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven about 12 minutes. Let cookies cool a few minutes before removing. Makes 5 dozen.
