CARDAMOM COFFEE BREAD 
3 cakes or packages dry yeast
2 tbsp. sugar
1 c. lukewarm water
1 1/2 c. milk
1/2 c. plus 1 tbsp. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 tsp. salt
4 eggs, well beaten
About 1 1/2 tsp. crushed whole cardamom
8 c. flour, approximately

Dissovle yeast and 2 tablespoons sugar in warm water. Scald milk add shortening, sugar and salt. Cool to lukewarm. Add 2 cups flour to make batter then add yeast and eggs. Beat well. Add flour to make soft dough, about 6 cups. Let rise about 2 hours. Knead and shape into tea ring rolls or braid(s). Then let rise 20 minutes. Bake at 375 degrees for 25-30 minutes.
