AUNT MARY'S APPLE SLICES 
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
2/3 c. crushed corn flakes
5 c. sliced apples
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. shortening
1 egg (separated)
Milk

Sift together flour, 1 tablespoon sugar, salt. Cut in shortening with pastry blender. Put egg yolk in measuring cup. Add milk to make 2/3 cup; add to flour mixture. Mix to form a ball.

Roll half to make rectangle, 15x11. Transfer to cookie sheet; cover with corn flakes, then apple slices. Mix sugar (1 1/2 cups) and cinnamon. Sprinkle over apples. Roll other half of dough for top crust.

Place over apples; pinch edges together. Cut slits to vent. Beat egg white stiff. Paint over top crust. Bake in a 375 degree oven for 40 minutes. While hot, dribble glaze over top. Cut into squares.

GLAZE:

1 c. confectioners sugar
2 tbsp. lemon juice

Mix together.
